Trust the Process is a collaborative mural created during an international artist residency led by muralist and mentor, PJ. Bringing together artists from around the world, the residency explored how individual stories, perspectives, and creative voices can merge into a single artwork that celebrates connection, trust, and shared purpose.

The project began with a simple brief: "Trust the Process." Each artist was invited to reflect on what those words meant to them personally and develop visual elements that represented their own journey. Rather than creating separate works, every contribution became part of one collective mural, evolving naturally as ideas were shared, refined, and woven together throughout the week.

My contribution represents water - a symbol of resilience, movement, and quiet strength. Water adapts, carves new paths, and connects landscapes, much like the creative process itself. It reflects my belief that growth doesn't always happen in a straight line; sometimes the most meaningful outcomes emerge by allowing ideas to evolve over time.

Together, each element became part of a larger story. A swallow watches over the mural, representing guidance and trust. A deeply rooted tree speaks to generosity and stability. A butterfly embodies transformation, while a stag symbolises courage and stepping into the unknown. Flowing beneath them all, water connects every element, reminding us that although our journeys are unique, they are strengthened through collaboration.

The finished mural is a reflection of what can happen when artists trust one another, embrace uncertainty, and create with openness. It demonstrates that the strongest ideas are often not created alone, but through listening, sharing, and building something greater together.
